Project goals
AQUAGENET project major goal is the development of biotechnological tools to develop and improve sustinable aquaculture in SUDOE area.
The project is organised in several work packages (WP).
AQUAGENET project major goal is the development of biotechnological tools to develop and improve sustinable aquaculture in SUDOE area. This includes production as well as animal wellfare and health improvement, using approach environment-friendly.
Development of these tools rely on the use of next generation sequencing technics which allowed to obtain a huge amount of sequences (WP2). These resources will be later on used for the three life beings studied in Aquagenet:
- Fish: Solea senegalensis (Southern sole from Sénégal) and Solea solea (common sole from Northern) within WP3
- Molluscs: oysters, mussel and clams within WP4
- Pathogens for these species : Photobacterium damselae piscicida (fish bacterial pathogen), parasites from genus Bonamia and OsHV-1 virus (both are molluscs pathogens and for oysters in particular) within WP5
Specific objective of WP7 is information dissemination toward aquaculture producers, stakeholders and scientific community. In addition to report and article publication, several meetings or workshops will be organised within this WP.
