After Inmartech06 hosted by WHOI in USA, the coming Inmartech08 Symposium is welcome by Ifremer in Toulon, close to the French Riviera, on October 8-10, 2008.
The Ifremer Toulon centre is located in the harbour of La Seyne-sur-Mer in the west end of the Toulon Bay. It is a logistical base for Ifremer fleet also called «European Centre of Underwater Technologies» (CETSM) which activities are focused on underwater technology. The main underwater operational systems, Coastal AUV fleet, Deep-sea Victor 6000 ROV and the manned submersible Nautile are based in this centre.
Ifremer is member of the internationally-oriented “Pôle MER PACA” (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur) competitiveness cluster which brings together key players from the worlds of industry, research and education working in the areas of safety and security and in sustainable development, numerous companies involved in marine technologies are installed in the area.
The maritime City of Toulon nestles in Europe’s largest and most beautiful bay, bordered by high wooded hills topped with ancient forts; an unusual but idyllic marriage of sea and mountain. Although the city has been a powerful military port for centuries, its bay offers much more than the naval base.
