Validated observation data

1. The Marine Geology Database

The Marine Geology Database consolidates sample descriptions and geological data (analyses) linked to samples taken by Ifremer teams, or stored at Ifremer as part of its various activities and projects:

  • sampling cruises;
  • observation and sample stations (position, type of observation and sample: submarine, drilling, dredging);
  • description and storage place of samples;
  • analyses.

2. The geophysical data

GéoBIS consolidates geophysical data:  bathymetric and seismic data.

GéoBIS-Bathy gathers validated and processed multibeam echo sounders data from the Marine Geoscience Research Unit within the framework of its research programs.

Data are stored in MBG format.

GéoBIS-Sondeurs de sédiments consolidates sub-bottom profilers data (chirp for example) acquired by the Research Unit as part of its research programs. These data can be used to conduct qualitative studies of geological structures and sedimentary processes.

Data are stored in SEGY format.

GéoBIS-Sismique réflexion consolidates  : Rapid Digital Seismic Surveys, MultiTrace Seismic (SMT), High Resolution (HR) 2d and 3d seismic data, Very High Resolution Seismic (VHR).

Data are stored in SEGY format.

GéoBIS-Sismique réfraction consolidates data from ocean bottom seismometer  (OBS).

3. Video data

Video data are produced by underwater systems during Marine Geoscience oceanographic cruises. The oldest data date back to 1978. These data as well as recent data are archived by the Sismer.

Data are archived in MPEG format.

4. Biocéan

Biocéan is a database for the management of deep-sea benthic ecological data. Among the available data, you can find cruise reports, dive reports, bottom or surface sample points. These reports relate the progress of oceanographic cruises.

These data are available in .XLS, .DOC, .TXT format.
