IFREMER’s quality management was ISO 9001 certified on 14 November 2012 and renewed three years later on 25 November 2015.
Quality improvement has been part of IFREMER since 1998, particularly in the area of coastal environmental monitoring. In addition to the audits that are regularly carried out at IFREMER, obtaining the ISO 9001 standard in 2012 reflects the desire of the Institute to continuously improve its operations to carry out its missions as best as possible.
The implementation of this system contributes to IFREMER’s efficiency in answering calls for proposals, particularly international ones, and provides the Institute with new assets for sealing partnerships with the private sector.
For Philippe Le Bras, IFREMER’s national quality control coordinator, “obtaining ISO 9001 certification for all IFREMER sites and activities ensures harmonised practices within the Institute and helps enhance operational efficiency for various tasks. It also allows a better assessment of the performance of IFREMER so that the Institute fully assumes its role as a service provider for the State. This certification is a public recognition of the quality of the Institute and underpins the confidence IFREMER’s partners place in it.”
