Information and Communication Service for Integrated Management and Monitoring
Monitoring data management: responsibility for the national coastal networks database is ensured by the Quadrige base which the service manages. It specifies the modifications required to host new data, and the results of analysis, exploitation and diffusion, in order to ensure the base conforms to quality assurance standards and standardised exchanges. By using new technologies, efficient and reliable European data exchanges are now made possible.
Analysis methods: besides developing statistics examination tools (developing Quadrige, support to coastal laboratories), the new needs formulated by Water Framework Directive authorities require the development of environmental quality indicators. The service optimises the monitoring sampling plan in collaboration with the managers of different networks.
Environmental communication: the service satisfies national and European needs (Aarhus convention) for information intended for both the general public and bodies requiring more specific monitoring data.
