Marine Geoscience Department

Within the general frame of Ifremer's mission to research, evaluate and protect ocean resources, the Marine Geoscience department is in charge of leading research in :

• improving knowledge of the oceanic domain (seafloor structure and geological process, exploration of the continental shelf and the ocean depths),

• supportive technological development.

The activities arising from the department's mandate are declined into programs and projets which are led in a strong national and international collaboration context, particularly European and in partnership with industry. They are situated at the level of socio-economic (minerals and energy resources, climate, natural risks) and scientific issues (large national and international programs) and issues related to European integration.
